This cd is the first recording of Barbella’s Sei Duetti a Due Viole is based on a manuscript source preserved in the Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin – Preußischer Kulturbesitz (Mus. ms. 1096). Barbella’s duets are a valuable novelty for the viola repertoire. Far from being a mere didactic collection, these duets are characterized by a variety of ideas.
